I’m a London based freelance Flash/Flex Developer and this is where I post about work, friends, stuff I’m up to and random other bits and pieces.
I’ve been working with Flash for somewhere around 10 years now and I love the fact that it’s such an ever-evolving beast; it keeps its freshness and you never have to stop learning. My main experience is within the digital agency arena and have worked with some of the top agencies in London, producing multi-market, multi-language, content managed solutions for globally renowned brands.
I hate over engineering. Recently, I came across a simple swf that just read an xml file and displayed a row of product images, each with a rollover tooltip. It was coded with Cairngorm. Completely unnecessary!
I love clean code. Well presented, considered code is great to work with. Clear method and property names that denote their role, clear indentation, functionality grouping and good, concise commenting all makes my job easier and more enjoyable. Fear the codesmells.
In lieu of a proper portfolio site, I have posted about various projects I’ve worked on, which can be found in the worksection. Comments are allowed on these posts as long as it’s flattery.
I hope the content here either feeds your interests, imparts knowledge or just puts a smile on your face
